WHO is an ADVISOR ?
        An Advisor is someone who has  great interest in the desert and Death Valley, and likes to help in educating others about this wonderful land. An Advisor gets involved in the preparation for ENCAMPMENT by participating in any number of committees in which they have an interest.  An Advisor helps out in any way they wish during the ENCAMPMENT.

WHEN & WHERE does an ADVISOR meet ?
    Six Death Valley '49er meetings are held in different locations during the year in preparation for the ENCAMPMENT. An Advisor must have the ability  to make at least three of these meetings. The first meeting is held on the last day of ENCAMPMENT at the visitors center auditorium at Furnace Creek, in Death Valley. The other five are set by the board and are usually held in locations such as Stovepipe Wells Village, Ridgecrest, Lone Pine, Amargosa Valley, Bishop, or Kernville. These meetings are held in January - March - May - July - September - and during ENCAMPMENT in November.

So!!! do you happen to see  any committees above that you would like to become an ADVISOR on?

The Death Valley '49er By-Laws, Article VII Advisors, Section 7.01 states;

Any person who is a Member of the Death Valley ‘49ers Inc. may become an Advisor as follows:

     A. Submit an application signed by a sponsor and two other directors to the nominating committee.
     B. Have the name of the prospective Advisor read at two regular meetings of the directors, and

     C. Obtain approval of a majority of the Directors present at the meeting when the second reading is made.

YUP! THAT'S IT!!!!!

          Just join the Death Valley '49ers as a General Member, come to the General Meeting on Sunday, the last day of the Encampment, at 1:pm at the visitor center, ask any one there in a Boss of the Plains Hat, "HOW DO I BECOME AN ADVISOR TO THIS WONDERFUL ORGANIZATION". A Director will  fill out your application and will take you around and introduce you to at least two other Directors who will also sign your application, these three have just become your mentors. At the next meeting held in January at Stovepipe Wells Village, your name will be read to the Board of Directors and you will be invited to the front of the auditorium for an opportunity of the Directors to get to know you better. Your second reading will be at the very next meeting and again you'll be asked to come and stand in front of the Board of Directors and at this time a show of hands will be called, for the acceptance of your nomination as a Death Valley '49er ADVISOR, and in no time at all you'll not only be a part of the history of this wonderful organization, but you'll start having more fun than you can shake a Chuckwalla Stick at.
