Visitors to the Death Valley '49ers Encampment will enjoy musical entertainment every day throughout the event area. When the sun goes down, you can listen to Richard Elloyan and Steve Wade, Old West Trio, and the Messick Family sing of the bygone era of wagon trains and Western pioneers.

The Fiddler's Stage at Furnace Creek Ranch and other locations offer a wide variety of entertainment all week long. Here you will find yodelers, crazy cowboys, and let's not forget our famous Coyote Howl open-mic performances!

Membership is required to attend concerts so don't forget to wear your BUTTON.

Richard Elloyan ~ Master of Ceremonies

We're excited to welcome back Richard Elloyan and Steve Wade to the 2019 Encampment. Deservedly so, Richard was awarded the 2018 Songwriter of the Year by the International Association of Western Music. Richard grew up in the historic mining town of Virginia City, Nevada, and uses his love of the state, its rich history, and its magnificent vistas as a constant source of inspiration for his songwriting and poetry.

Reno native Steve Wade returns to the Encampment to accompany Richard on guitar and harmony vocals. In addition to his talent as a musician, Steve has also been a wrangler and buckaroo on the Flying M and Willamonte ranches, a farrier, a bronc rider, horse trainer, and finish carpenter. Together, Richard and Steve recently released a new CD titled Up For Adoption.

Old West Trio

The Old West Trio is now in their 25th year of performing. This traditional western harmony group is an Encampment favorite, not just for their beautiful music, but for the fun and camaraderie they bring to the event. Steve Johnson, Steve Ide, and Leslie Ide will bring with them a new album of traditional and original western tunes.

The Messick Family Singers

The Messick Family Singers bring with them a multi-generational sound of the Old West. Hailing from Chimney Peak Ranch in the Eastern Sierras, the Messick Family Singers celebrate more than half a century of making music together as a family.  With appearances at Western gatherings and roundups throughout California, the Messick Family Singers continue a tradition of music spanning four generations.
Join Patriarch and Matriarch Wayne and Gail as they and their four children Virginia, Steve, Stacey and Scott blend harmonies as only family can. This show promises to put a tap in your foot and a smile on your face as you share with them, the warmth of family and the musical grandeur of life in the majestic Sierra Nevada.
