"SOUTHWEST MINING, MINERAL, LAPIDARY
and CRAFT SHOW"
DEATH
VALLEY
‘49ERS STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
To Promote Understanding and Appreciation of
Death Valley and Its History.
The Invitational Southwest Mining,
Mineral, Lapidary and Craft Show, is sponsored annually by the Death
Valley ‘49ers at the Encampment Program in early November. The ‘49ers are
non-salaried volunteers and receive no financial incentives. The
compelling beauty of the National Park and the fortunate union of the
Death Valley ‘49ers, National Park professionals and the Xanterra
(formally Fred Harvey) staff are unique. The premier western artists,
musicians, and other features of this famous Encampment, since 1949, draw
worldwide appreciative audiences. This year we bring back an event that
was very popular many years ago. A Show of Exhibitors of a selected
variety and western appeal. The "Southwest Show" will include Mining,
Mineral and Lapidary, Wood items, Arts and Craft items. There may be a
Christmas booth. The Southwest Show is scheduled Monday, November 3rd to
Sunday noon, November 9th 2008 at the Borax Museum located at the Furnace
Creek Ranch.
Encampment activities are located at
Furnace Creek Ranch, the Park Visitor Center, and Stovepipe Wells Village.
The spacious National Park easily accommodates the thousands of people
drawn to attend the events and to enjoy the beauty of the deep valley and
high mountains.
The "Southwest Mining, Mineral,
Lapidary and Craft Show", is held at the Furnace Creek Ranch in the Great
Death Valley National Park. Only original handmade/machinery made work
will be for sale in the booths. Each Vendor will be carefully selected for
quality of work and variety.
There is a
Registration Fee of $125.00: which includes your Death Valley ‘49er
Membership fee of $25.00.
No commission is charged on sales,
although we require an estimate of sales/prices at the end of the show for
evaluation and suggestions.

Breakfast” Friday morning and “Breakfast with the Artists” on Saturday
morning, talks on the history of the area, music with fiddling and picking
contests, horseback trail riders, covered wagon train, 4-wheel drive

GUIDELINES
2nd Annual - 2008
"SOUTHWEST MINING, MINERAL, LAPIDARY
and CRAFT SHOW"
In the 1980s a "Mining, Mineral and Lapidary
Show was setup in back of the Borax Museum during
the Death Valley ‘49er Encampments. This 2nd Annual
2008 Show is scheduled for more days of exhibiting
and will include crafts.
In this same area, on display, are various
pieces of old equipment that was used in Death
Valley within the last 100 years.
Some of these old pieces work, some on display.
They are western and desert related artifacts of
life as it was or still may be, in the western
United States.
All this provides a perfect setting for our
"Southwest Mining, Mineral, Lapidary and Craft Show"
This beautiful area called Furnace Creek Resort
Ranch supports and participates in the annual Death
Valley ‘49ers Encampment in November, located on
3,000,000 acres called Death Valley National Park.
We are looking for good exhibitors/vendors of
mines/mining, minerals, lapidary, arts and craft,
etc. of western appearance and flavor, that will
set the stage for this unique Show to be exciting
and grow for many years to come.
